6 to die for killing in Bogra, Rangpur

A court on Wednesday in Bogra sentenced two killers to death and fined one lakh taka, another to 7 years imprisonment with 10 thousand monetary fine for killing class seven student Naimur Rahman Naim under Kahaloo Upazila of the district in 2012.
The killers are identified as Md.Zakaria(28), son of Abdul Mannan and Dalim(23), son of Md. Alimuddin both of Ullotro Purbopara under Kahaloo upazila of the district. Another convict is Md. Motin resident of same area. Acting District and Session Judge pronounced the verdict.
The prosecution story in brief, is that the culprits abducted the victim from his coaching and demanded 5 lakh tk as extortion from the parents of the victim over previous enmity on April5, 2012. As the victim introduced them, they killed the innocent boy and burnt the body in a brick field.
After the body was found, victim’s father Mr.Rafiqul Islam filled a case with Kahaloo thana against 10 persons including Zakaria, Dalim and Motin. Police, after investigation, submitted charge sheet to the court against them.
Later the Judge, after examining the witness and evidence, found them guilty and sentenced Zalaria, Dalim to Death with monetary fine of 1 lakh taka. The same Judge sentenced Motin to 7 years imprisonment with 10 thousand taka as monetary fine.
Victim’s family men expressed their satisfaction on the verdict and demanded execution of the verdict as early as possible.
Locals said, the verdict will create awareness among the criminals before committing any crime.
BSS from Rangpur adds: A court here on Wednesday sentenced four persons to death for murdering a businessman in Jalalganj Nilerkuthi village under Mithapukur upazila in the district four years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Court-2 of Rangpur Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman handed down the verdict in a crowded courtroom.
The four convicted persons with capital punishments are Sirajul Islam, 33, Jewel, 26, and Sujan Mian, 25, of Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur and Shahin Mian, 25, of village Bogra district.
The court also sentenced Alam Mian, 35, of Bogra to three years rigorous imprisonment and fined him Taka 5,000, or in default, to suffer one year rigorous imprisonment.
Convicted Sirajul Islam was present in the court during announcement of the verdict while the four others were on the run.
