The Market Monitoring Cell of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in a bid to control price hike during the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday visited a kitchen market in the port city and fined 6 shops Taka 21,000 on different grounds.
The team of the Market Monitoring Cell visited the Ferengi Bazar kitchen market and cautioned the traders of kitchen market not to sell the essentials in exorbitant prices. The teams fined a total of six shops Taka 21,000 for not showing price list, realizing excessive prices, selling date expired goods and for not using BSTI approved weight scales. Executive magistrate Sanjida Shirmin led the monitoring team. The Market Monitoring Cell also called upon the traders to sell the essentials as per prices that were fixed by the joint meeting between Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and Merchant Associations leaders.
