Chittagong Metropolitan Police rounded up seven Shibir activists along with President of Bandar thana President Fazlur Rahman Rubel for allegedly accused in blowing up the oil installations in the port city.
They were rounded up from a residence of one Shahabuddin of Dailpara under port thana areas in the city on Friday night after conducting raids .
The detainees are Fazlur Rahman Rubel(25), AGM Arif(22), Md. Jafaruddin(22), Abdul Karim(20) , Mahbubur Rahman(21), MA Karim(23), Kalid Hasan(33), police sources said. They were allegedly accused with the conspiracy of blowing the oil installations in port area, sources said.
Officer- in-charge of Bandar thana AKM Mohiuddin Selim told this reporter that these ICS cadres were rounded up for alleged accused for destruction of Padma, Meghna and Jamuna oil installations in port area.
Shibir leader Rubel confessed their involvement with the planning of oil terminal destructions, sources said. Police sources said a number of valuable secret documents of Chittagong Port were recovered from the custody of shibir President Rubel.
After checking the mobile phone data of Rubel, ascertained some important numbers of shibir’s central leaders . Police sources said Chittagong Port Authority formulated a secret report in 2010 regarding labour unrest in the port including names of 101 workers who particiated the protest rally.
Police is interrogating Rubel about the availabllity of port’s secret documents in his custody.
