Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested two members of an inter-country robber gang along with 17 firearms from Pallampara hilly area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Monday night.
The arrestees are Shamsul Alam, 22, and Faridullah, 37. They are members of the inter-country robber gang, Hakim Group, and listed criminals of the Home Ministry.
Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Media) of Rab-7 Amirullah said a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested them along with two pistols.
Later, they conducted another drive at their den in the same area and recovered 15 more shooter guns and 442 bullets.
Amirullah said they had long been involved in robbery, murder, abduction and extortion along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
Several cases were filed with different police stations in Cox’s Bazar against them, he added.
Another reports adds: Detective Branch police of Chittagong Metropolitan Police rounded up four robbers from Polo ground areas under Kotwali thana along with arms and ammos recently .
The robbers identified as Tajuddin, Md Didar, Mostand Gisan. Inspector of the DB police Habibur Rahman told that acting on secret information, the conducted raid in the area and managed to apprehend them.
Police recovered two pipe gun, two knives, two sharf lethal weapons and 3 bullets from their possession. Police sources said the detained robbers are shouldering a number of criminal cases before the CMP thanas .
