Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six members of a killer gang named ‘Shahadat Bahini’ on charge of extortion, from Pallabi area, Mirpur in city early Tuesday.
The detained persons have been identified as Shanto Mia, Milon alias Sumon, Yamin Sarker alias Mintu, Babu Ahmed alias Babu, Masud Rana alias Rana and Solaiman Quader alias Pavel, said Major Maqsudul Alam, Deputy Director (Legal and Media Wing) of RAB.
A team of RAB-4 conducted a drive in Pallabi area and arrested them from a house around 3:00am, the RAB official
said. The arrested person confessed that they were members of top terror Shahadat Bahini, the elite force official said.
At least 12 cases were pending against Shahadat on charge of killing, snatching and extortion, he said.
In March, a Dhaka court awarded the death sentence to Shahadat on charge of killing the leader of Swechchhasebok League, Pallabi unit, Monir Uddin, he said.
Shahadat had fled to India in January this year, the RAB official said.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
