A total of six cricketers of Bangladesh National Cricket team and 17 coaching and supporting staff recived vaccines of coronavirus at the Kurmitola General Hospital on Thursday. The players, coaching staff and supporting staff took vaccines before the upcoming New Zealand tour.
Tamim Iqbal, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed and Mohammad Naim received vaccine of coronavirus. Soumya Sarkar was the first cricketer, who was vaccinated first.
Shakib Al Hasan is now in leisure. He will not go to New Zealand as his wife is pregnant and Shakib will stay with his wife during the birth of their baby. At that time Bangladesh Cricket team will engage in the three-match ODI series and three-match T20I series against New Zealand in New Zealand.
A BCB sources said rest of the players of Bangladesh Cricket team will receive the vaccine tomorrow.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo, Bowling Coach Ottis Gibson and the other staffs went to the hospital to receive the vaccine of coronavirus.
President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan Papon, Chairman of Media Committee of the BCB Jalal Yunus, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BCB Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Manager of Cricket Operations Sabbir Khan were present at the Hospital.
Earlier, President of BCB Nazmul Hassan said to the newsmen, ” The cricketers are not bound to receive coronavirus vaccine. Some of the cricketers received vaccine, while some of the players were not vaccinated.”
Bangladesh Cricket team will leave the city for New Zealand in the next week.
After reaching New Zealand the cricketers have to take 14-day quarantine. Then they started their New Zealand campaign.
BCB will announce the ODI squad and T20I squads today.
Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the first ODI at Dunedin on March 20, face the Kiwis in the second ODI at Christchurch on March 23, meet New Zealand in the third ODI at Wellington on March 26.
The Tigers will take on the Kiwis in the first T20I at Hamilton on March 28, face New Zealand in the second T20I at Napier on March 30 and meet the Kiwis in the third T20I at Auckland on April 1.
