The members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police claimed to have arrested six members of a mugging gang with 90 laptops from the city’s Darussalaam area on Sunday.
The arrested men are: Khalil Gazi, Abul Kalam, Emdadul Haq, Hasibur Rahman Shuvro, Manirn Bepari and Mushfiqur Rahman, police said.
Abdul Baten, Joint Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said, “A team of Detectives conducted a drive following information for 48 hours till Saturday morning and arrested them from different areas of Darussalaam area.”
They used to collect the laptops by mugging from people in different areas in the capital and sell those online, the DB official said.
Of them, Mushfiqur is the owner of an electronic devices shop at Bashundhara Shopping Complex at Panthapath in the capital, the Joint Commissioner said.
The arrested men were being interrogated in this connection, the police official said.
A case was filed with the Darussalaam Police Station, he said.
