Coronavirus outbreak: 6 more die, 94 test positive in 24hrs: IEDCR

Six more died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh, with, 94 people being detected as coronavirus positive during the same period.
 “The death toll from the COVID-19 reached 27 and the cases of the coronavirus infection is now 424,” said Professor Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, Director, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research during an online press briefing on Friday at Dhaka.
This is the highest number of deaths as well as highest number of infection cases from the virus in a single day in the country.
Among the deceased, five males and one female were between 30-40 years, two 50-60 years old, one 70-80 and another above 90 years, the IEDCR director stated.
She said that three of the deceased were from Dhaka, two from Narayanganj and one was from Patuakhali.
IEDCR Director said among the newly infected patients, 69 are males and 25 are females.
Dr. Sabrina Flora said,”Thirty-seven are from Dhaka city while 16 are from Narayanganj. Others are from different districts.”
She elaborated about the age-wise statement of the infected patients that four are under 10 years old, six are 11-20 years old, 12 between 21-30, 29 are 31-40, 16 are 41-50, 14 are 51-60 and the rest of the are above 60 years old.
Meanwhile, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Additional Director General Sanya Tahmina said that 1,184 people were tested in the past 24 hours and 94 of them were found positive.
She said also that 7359 people were tested so far across the country.
Sania Tahmina said that there are 112 ICU in hospitals in the country. There are 550 ventilators also.
She said the DGHS has 4,48,072 personal protective equipment (PPE) now. It is collecting and distributing masks and PPEs everyday.
