Student protest for safe roads campaign: 6 more arrested for ‘spreading rumour’ on social media

Law enforcers have arrested six more people from the city’s different areas for allegedly trying to create unrest by spreading rumours on social media instigating the student protests for safe roads campaign.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a drive in Dhanmondi and arrested Akhtaruzzaman Tony, 22, Asadullah Al Galib, 22, and Munim Sarkar, 23, near the Abahani field, said Operation Officer of RAB-2 Rabiul Islam.
Police arrested three others-Tauhidul Islam Tushar, 24, Mohammad Waliullah, 28, and Ehsan Uddin Ejaz, 18, — from different areas of the capital on Tuesday night, Nazmul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Social Media Monitoring Team and Cybercrime Division unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said. They were shown arrested under the ICT Act case at Ramna Police Station, the ADC said.
Their laptop, mobile phone, memory chip card and Facebook IDs have also been seized, the official said.
Earlier, at least seven people were arrested so far in Dhaka for spreading rumours on social media during the protest demanding safe roads and justice for two students killed in road accidents on Airport Road on July 29.
