6 months’ jail for going outside sans mask

People go outdoor without masks will have to suffer six months in jail or pay Tk 1 lakh fine or both.
This was declared on Saturday in an amended rule of Infectious Disease(Prevention, Control and Elimination) Act, 2018.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said action would be taken against those who will not follow the health guidelines during outdoor movement.
In an announcement on Saturday, she said the notification issued earlier by the Health Ministry on May 6 under section 11(1) of Infectious Disease(Prevention, Control and Elimination) Act, 2018, (no 61 law of 2018)” will be changed as given bellow.
Besides, the same person will be given jail for three more months and fined Tk 50,000 for violating the instruction.
According to the amendment: 1. All health guidelines should be followed including wearing masks while stepping outside, otherwise, legal action will be taken against the rule violators as per section 24(1), (2), 25 (1), (Ka,Kha) and 25 (2) of Infectious Disease(Prevention, Control and Elimination) Act, 2018,(no 61 law of 2018).
The district administration and authorities concerned will implement the law cautiously.
2.People and authorities should have to strictly follow the health guidelines during the restricted movement.
3. None allowed to come out of home from 8pm to 6am unless for extremely emergent needs (necessary buying and selling, going to workplace, purchasing medicine and treatment, burial/cremation of dead). But, wearing masks and following health guidelines are mandatory in every situation.
