6 metro rail coaches arrive at Mongla

The first set of metro rail coaches has arrived in the Mongla port yesterday afternoon.
A vessel – SPM Bangkok – carrying six coaches arrived at the port and was anchored there around 4pm.
Md Ohiduzzaman, General Manager of Ancient Steamship Company Limited, the local shipping agent of the foreign ship, confirmed the news to the media.
The coaches were being unloaded from the ship in the evening of Wednesday.
The vessel started for Bangladesh from Japan’s Kobe on 4 March.
Earlier on 3 March, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique told media that the coaches completed third-party trial before they were loaded on the vessel.

It said the length of the metro rail route up to Motijheel was 20.1 km. But now it has been extended to Kamalapur Railway Station by 1.16km. As a result, the number of stations has also increased to 16.
There will be a total of 16 stations on the 21km route of the Mass Rapid Transit-MRT Line 6.
The stations are Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur 11, Mirpur 10, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbag, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Secretariat and Motijheel.
