The members of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a drive picked up six members of a dope gang from the city’s Darussalam area on Thursday night.
The detained persons are: Md Mahbub Sikder, Md Mizan Sarder, Md Mahbub, Md Anwar Hossain, Md Jibon alias Shahin and Md Masud. Of them, Mahbub is the leader of the dope gang, said Maruf Hossain Sarder, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP.
A team of Detectives recovered also 540 tablets of drug Ativan, usually used to dope people by mixing with food, in the city’s Darussalam area around 9:00pm, the Police official said.
The criminals used to loot people’s cash and cell phones after making them unconscious with poisonous balm and tablets, he said.
A case has been filed in this connection.
