Apologising for their crimes, six Marma youths on Thursday announced to return to normal life shunning the path of criminality.
They made the announcement at Bandarban Cantonment at noon.
Those who promised to return to normal life are Mong U Ching Marma, Kapromrong Marma, Lusai Mong Marma, Uhaising Marma, Monba Houai Marma and Mongeching Marma.
Deputy commanding officer of Bandar Sadar zone Army Major Mashiur Rahman said the six youths had long been involved in crimes, including extortion and kidnapping, in Talukderpara of Roangchhari upazila.
They were encouraged to leave the criminal activities through local representatives and villagers.
Bangladesh Army said various initiatives are being taken for the rehabilitation of the youths who return to normal life shunning the path of crime.
