Two people were killed in two separate incidents in Paikgachha upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Mohananda Sana, 24, son of Parimal Sana, hailing from Choladhana village, and Rajendranath Roy, 42, son of Boloram Roy, a resident of Chatkhali village.
Mohananda Sana, who completed an engineering degree, demanded Tk three lakh from his father for going abroad. However, his father Parimal refused to give the money. Following this, Mohananda took pesticide around 5pm.
Later, he was rushed to the upazila health complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.In another incident, Rajendranath Roy died after being hit by stings of fish at Chatkhali Bazar.
Rajendranath went to a fish market in the evening where he bumped into a basket of fish, just to receive stings of some tengra fish inside.
He was rushed to upazila health complex and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital were he succumbed to his injuries around 8pm.
UNB from Chandpur adds: Two women, a man and a minor boy were killed in separate incidents in Sadar, Faridganj and Shahrasti upazilas of the district on Tuesday. Of them, two were electrocuted while two others drowned in canal and pond.
The deceased were identified as Riyad Khan,22, son of Joynal Khan, a resident of Ramdasdi Bohoria village in Chandpur Sadar upazila, Halima Begum, 48, wife of Abdus Sobhan, a resident of Khajuria village, Reshma Akter ,17, daughter of Satter Munshi, a resident of Lorairchar village in Faridganj upazila, and a 12- year- old boy, Rhidoy, son of Anwar Hossain, a resident of Nij Mehar village in Shahrasti. In Sadar upazila, Riyad Khan came in contact a live electric wire and was injured at noon at his home while repairing the electric line. Later he was brought to Chandpur General Hospital where on-duty doctors declared dead.
In Faridganj upazila, Halima Begum came in contact with a live electric wire while she was hanging her saree to dry at her house.
She was brought to the local health complex where on- duty doctors declared her dead.
Meanwhile, Faridganj thana police recovered the body of a teenage girl from a canal adjacent to Rampur Bazar in Faridganj upazila on afternoon.
On information, Sub-inspector Iqbal Hossain went to the spot and recovered the body of Reshma Akter.
Police sent the body to Chandpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Family sources said the girl had been suffering from epilepsy and so she might have drowned in the said canal.
Nazmul Huque, officer-in-charge of Faridganj police station, confirmed the incident.
In Shahrasti upazila, Rhidoy suddenly went down in the pond at noon while he was playing with his friends on its bank.
Later local people recovered the body.
