Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six members of a fraud gang, including two female members, from Faidabad of Dakkhin Khan in the city on Thursday night.
The elite force recovered one pair of handcuff, three fake police ID cards, one camera, four obscene pictures and cash Tk 22,450 from their possessions.
Sources at the RAB headquarters said the arrested gang members used blackmail people introducing them as DB police.
The arrestees are Md Khairul Alasm alias Robiul, 42, Md Pannu Miah, 35, Saiful Islam Niloy, 25,
Khairul Islam Monir, 32, Shamima Akhter Trishna, 27, and Ummeh Tasnin Iva, 19.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive at Faidabad at about 11:30 pm and arrested Robiul and Pannu Miah. Based on their information , the elite force members arrested the other four people from in front of Uttara Girls High School near House Building of Uttara Sector-6.
During interrogation, they revealed that usually the women members of the gang targeted people after visiting various offices, shopping malls and restaurants and managed their mobile phone numbers.
