6 commercial establishments fined for adulteration

Separate mobile courts of Chittagong District Administration and National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate (NCRPD) today fined TK 2.8 lakh to six commercial establishments including four bakeries in different area in the city for preserving food items in improper ways.
Deputy Revenue Collector and Executive Magistrate of Chittagong District Administration Mohammad Ruhul Amin led the mobile court of district administration at city’s Panchliash thana crossing and fined TK one Lakh to Probashi Bakery for producing adulterated foods and date expired biscuits.
The mobile court also recovered huge decomposed and date expired biscuits from ‘Probashi Bakery’ in the same area.
In separate drives, the mobile court of NCRPD fined four bakeries and a restaurant TK 1.8 lakh for not maintaining cleanliness and preserving food items in improper ways.
Sensing the presence of the mobile court the owners of commercial establishments fled safely, so the court was not able to detain them, said magistrate Ruhul Amin.
The penalties were made under ‘Consumers’ Rights Protection Act-2009′ and ‘Bangladesh Hotel and Restaurant Act- 2014’, the executive magistrate said.
2 illegal makeshift jetties demolishes,2 ships fined
A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) demolished two illegal makeshift jetties and fined two ships for different irregularities in Chittagong city on nSunday.
During a drive, led by Mohammad Abul Hasem, executive magistrate of CPA; the court demolished the illegal jetties in Char Patharghata area under Karnaphuli Police Station.
Bricks and coals, worth around Tk 6 lakh, were also seized from the jetties, said the megistrate.
Meanwhile, two ships — MV Central and MV Saifur Rahman — were also fined Tk 30,000 each in Shah Amanat Bridge area near the Karnaphuli River for different irregularities including overloading, keeping date-expired fire extinguishers and not having safety gears, he added.
