Two minor children drowned in a pond at Baharkachhna area in Rangpur city on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sohat (4), son of Mizanur Rahman and Jim (3), son of Majnu Mia of the area.
According to family sources they slipped into a pond near their house and drowned while playing on the bank of the pond at noon.
Later, locals recovered their floating bodies from the pond.
UNB from Netrokona adds: Four individuals, including three minor boys, died after falling into water bodies in three separate incidents at Mohanganj and Madam Upazila of Netrokona district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Habibullah, 4, son of Anis Mia, Motahar, 5, son of Rois Mia, resident of Balali village of Madan Upazila, Manik Mia, 42, son of late Abdul Barek, a resident of Latiakona village of Mohanganj Upazila and Joy, 8, son of Mintu Mia, a resident of Mohanganj Upazila.
According to Police and Local People, Habibullah and Motahar drowned when they were trying to pluck water lilies from Kakuajhuri marsh near their home.
Meanwhile, Manik Mia drowned when he was catching fish on a bank of the river and Joy was playing near a pond when he accidentally slipped into it.
