The bodies of six people who went missing after a boat carrying devotees capsized in the Kirtankhola River on Wednesday were recovered from Charmonai Launchghat in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Shahi Ali, 28, son of Amanullah of Gazipur municipality, Jakir Hossain Dildar, 30, of Bhabanipur in Gazipur district, Iftekhar, 9, son of Abdul Malek of Gazipur Sadar, Badshah Dali, 65, of Pachankhola village in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj district, Delwar Hossain, 28, son of Makbul Hossain of Mymensingh district, and Abdul Kuddus, 24, son of Hedayet Hossain of Laxmipur district.
Belal Hossain officer-in-charge of Barisal Naval Police Station, said the bodies of two victims were recovered in the morning while that of four others at noon. Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, the boat carrying devotees to a gathering of Charmonai Darbar Sharif sank in the river after being hit by a trawler, he said.
The OC, however, could not say whether anyone else remained missing in the incident.
