At least six unclaimed bodies, including four bullet-hit, were found in Narayanganj and Dhaka districts on Sunday.
The identities of the deceased, aged between 30 and 35, could not be known immediately, police said.
In Narayanganj, police recovered the bullet injuries bodies of four young men with their heads smashed in front of Panchrukhi Government Primary School in Araihazar upazila of the district, Officer-in-Charge of Araihazar Police Station MA Haque said.
The law enforcers also recovered two pistols and a microbus from the spot, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting the OC.
The police who discovered the bodies believe that the four youths died in “gangland violence”.
Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional Superintendent of Police, said they seized bullets, two pistols and a microbus from the scene.
“The dead have not been identified. Our initial investigation, which found pistols and bullets at the scene, suggests that an altercation between gangs and criminals may have resulted in the deaths,” he said.
All four had bloody wounds on the back of their heads, but no other injuries on their bodies, according to him.
He said that the bodies were sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
According to local resident Raihan, he heard four gunshots in the night. He did not leave his home then, but saw the bodies by the road in the morning.
“One of them wore a lungi and a purple T-shirt. The rest were wearing jeans and T-shirts. The backs of their heads were bloody and damaged,” he said.
In Dhaka, two decomposed bodies were found from a grass field at Uttara Sector 16 under Turag Police Station, said OC of Turag Police Station Nurul Muttakin.
“There are no buildings nearby. It seems as if the two bodies have been here for a few days. We do not yet know how the two died,” he said.
“Both of the men are between 30 and 35 years of age. One of them wore trousers and a shirt, while the other was in trousers and a T-shirt. The two are yet to be identified,” the OC said.
The bodies were sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for the autopsy, he said.
