Six Bangladesh nationals were picked up by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from the Padma river at Godagari border of the district on Tuesday noon.
The identity of the six BD nationals could not be confirmed immediately.
Additional director of Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB’s) battalion-37 Mohammad Ershadul Haque said the BSF personnel picked up the six people as they entered the Indian territory of the river by mistake on a dredger board around 2pm.
BGB will take necessary steps for the return of the six people detained by the BSF, he added.
