Six Bangladeshi cricketers have been nominated for ESPNcricinfo Awards in several categories for their outstanding performances in 2016.
The nominees are Tamim Iqbal, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman and Mustafizur Rhaman.
Tamim got nomination in the Test Batting Performance of the Year category for his 104 against England in the second Test at Mirpur.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz nominated in the Test Bowling Performance of the Year category for his 6 for 77 against England in the Mirpur Test.
Bangladesh captain in limited-over cricket Mashrafe Mortaza got nomination in the ODI Bowling Performance of the Year category for his 4 for 29 against England in Mirpur. However, no Bangladeshi cricketer was nominated in the ODI Batting Performance of the Year category.
Two Bangladeshi cricketers have been nominated in the T20I Batting Performance of the Year category. They are Sabbir Rahman and Mahmudullah. Sabbir got nomination for his 80-run innings in Asia Cup against Sri Lanka in Mirpur.
Mahmudullah has been nominated for his 22 not out against Pakistan in the same tournament.
Mustafizur Rahman has been nominated in the T20I Bowling Performance of the Year category for his 5 for 22 against New Zealand in World T20, in Kolkata.
Besides, Mehedi Hasan Miraz has also been nominated in the Debutant of the Year category for taking 19 wickets at an average of 15.63 from 2 Test against England.
The ESPNcricinfo Awards recognise the best individual batting and bowling performances in cricket over the calendar year. They are voted on by an independent jury of former cricketers, commentators, and ESPNcricinfo’s senior writers.
Previous winners have included Dale Steyn, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Shahid Afridi and Kumar Sangakkara.
