Moghbazar killings: 6 accused taken on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday (Sunday) placed six people on remand in two cases filed in connection with the triple murders, which took place at Moghbazar area of the capital on August 28.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Islam passed the order of remand for Shahidullah, Ramjan Ali, Rubel Miah Sani and Maruf Hossain in two separate cases. This court also placed Al Amin and Shafin Laskar on three days remand in an arms case.
Earlier, Sub-Inspector of Ramna Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of both the cases, Mizanur Rahman sought 10 days remand in the murder and arms cases to quiz the accused.
General Recording Officer (GRO) of the court Mahmudur Rahman disclosed it to the newsmen.
On Friday, police arrested these people in separate drives conducted in different areas of Munshiganj and Dhaka. The law enforcers also recovered two pistols and three machetes from the possession of the accused.
On August 28, miscreants gunned down Ranu Akhter Bristy, 28, wife of Mohammad Abul Hossain, her younger brother Hridy’s friends- Billal Hossain, 25 and Munna, 20 and injured another in a house at Sonalibagh in city’s Moghbazar area following a rivalry with local land grabbers and extortionists.
Later, slain Bristy’s brother Shamim filed a murder case with Ramna Police Station against 15 people, including Shah Alam Khandaker alias ‘Kailla Babu’ as the main accused on August 30 in connection with the murder.
