Staff Reporter :Bangladesh Coast Guard and Department of Narcotics Control [DNC] in a joint drive arrested two drug traders and seized 6.8 lakh pieces yaba tablets from the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port on Wednesday.The arrestees were identified as Abdul Karim and Faridur Rahman.Zonal Inspector of DNC Tapan Kanti Sharma said, the anti-narcotics officials seized 6,80,000 yaba tablets just before unloading from the fishing trawler near outer-anchorage of the port area.The DNC officials also nabbed five suspected persons and after primary investigation, three persons got released as they were found connection with in this connection.He said, the haul of 6,80,000 yaba tablets were collected from Myanmar and brought to Chittagong from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar through river route.The arrested were identified as the boatman Faridul Alam, 42, and his assistant Abul Kalam, 33.The fishing boat was detained in this connection. The main culprit behind the haul will be identified after investigation, Sharma added.
