The Fifth National Sculpture Exhibition is going on at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The exhibition was
inaugurated by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid as the chief guest on November 29. Secretary of the Ministry
of Cultural Affairs Md Abul Monsur, eminent sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan, artist Alak Roy attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests with BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair. BSA Fine Arts Department Director Syeda Mahbuba Karim (Mini Karim) delivered welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony. A total of 254 sculptures by 135 artists aged 21 and above from all over the country were submitted for this year’s exhibition. The juries selected 114 works of art from 107 artists for the exhibition, said the
organisers. Besides, one sculpture work each of 16 invited and five late pioneer artists are being showcased at the exhibition, and there is also a Liberation War-based sculpture
corner marking the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence. The exhibition will remain open for all every day from 11:00am (3:00pm on Friday) to 8:00pm till December 28.
