5th edition of Dhaka Art Summit begins

The 5th edition of Dhaka Art Summit began with the theme Seismic Movement or Transmission. Samdani Art Foundation and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) jointly organised the event since 2012 to provide a rare opportunity to experience such multi-dimensional works of art from all across the world under one roof.
The inaugural ceremony of Dhaka Art Summit took place on Friday. More than 500 painters, artists, sculptors, curators, art critics, art professionals, art collectors and architects from different countries, including Bangladesh, are participating in the exhibition.
State Minister of Culture KM Khalid inaugurated the art summit as the chief guest at the National Art Gallery’s auditorium. Dhaka Art summit Chairman Faruk Sobhan shared his greetings. Co-founder and Director of Samdani Foundation, Nadia Samdani delivered welcome speech. Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the ceremony.
After going through a lot of experiments this year’s art summit’s theme is Seismic Movements where different artworks related to geological, colonial, independence and social movements are on the display.
The first performance on the day of inauguration took place at the 6th gallery of National Art Gallery of BSA.
On the other hand, Bangladeshi artist Ariful Kabir participated in the Samdani Art Award Performance at 10:00am.
 There was a panel discussion titled ‘Design in Era of Climate-Catastrophy’ at the Art Gallery. Performance action titled ‘Movimientos Emisores de Existencia’ under the direction of Hector Zamorah was displayed on the lobby of the first floor of the National Art Gallery.
No passes or tickets will be required to enjoy this exhibition. It is open for all. The exhibition will be opened until February 15 (10:00am to 8:00pm daily).
