A total of 5,979 small and marginal farmers in the district got seeds and fertilizers free of cost under Agriculture Incentive Programme during Aus seasons.
The objective of the seeds and the fertilizers distribution among the farmers is to inspire them to cultivate Aus paddy at a low cost to strengthen the country’s food security, official sources said.
The seeds and fertilizers were distributed to the selected farmers of the district through the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) recently, office sources said.
Each of the farmers got 15 kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizers, 10 kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) and 5 kg of Aus seeds of BRRI-48 variety.
According to DAE said 800 farmers in Jamalpur Sadar, 700 farmers in Sarishabari, 1000 farmers in Melandaha, 1000 farmers in Islampur, 800 farmers in Madarganj, 800 farmers Bakshiganj and 879 farmers in Dewanganj upazilas of the district.
