58 suspected jungle pirates arrested from Sundarbans

Some 58 suspected jungle pirates were arrested by the Coast Guard from Kokilmoni area, adjacent to the river Mara Pashur in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest in Bagerhat district on Monday evening.
At that time the Coastguard recovered one mechanized boat, 6 big knives locally known as Daws, 2 hand saws, 5 knives of various kinds, The arrested persons and the recovered mechanized boat and arms were handed to Dhgangmari forest range office by the coastguards.
Lt. Commander S.M. Fazlul Karim, BN, Operation Officer of the Coastguards of the Western Zone deployed at Mongla told, the operation of the Coast Guard will continue in and around of Sundarban forest for the safety and security of the forest resources and the fishermen.
 Trawler laden with dry fish worth Tk.30 lakh seized: A trawler named FB. Mithu-1 laden with huge quantity of dry fish was seized by the Forest Department from Shelarchar area in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest on Monday night for not paying the Govt. revenue. It is reported that when the dry fish laden trawler was trying to flee away from the forest area without paying the Govt. revenue a special mobile team headed by (forest ranger) Md. Hafizur Rahaman, in charge of the mobile team seized the trawler. Forest Department sources said that the quantity of the dry fish is more than 10 thousand kgs and its market price is more than Tk.30 lakh and one Arif Hossain Mithu hails from Zindapara area in Khulna City Corporation is the owner of the trawler.
