After a long investigation for 8 months in the sensational murder case of two Awami League leaders of Daibanjahati Union under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district Thakur Das Mondol, Officer-In-Charge (investigation) of Morrelganj PS and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case submitted a charge sheet to a court (at Bagerhat) on Wednesday accusing some 58 persons.
The Charge sheet No. is 210. The main accused is Shahidul Islam Fakir (55), seating (AL supported) UP Chairman of Daibanjahati Union Parishad. Other accused persons are 5 UP members, 1 Dafadar, 1 Chowkidar (village Police) of the Union Parishad and some local AL leaders and activists.
It may be mentioned here that on October 01, 2018 at about 3 pm Md. Ansar Ali Dihidar (52), General Secretary of Daibnjahti Union Unit of Bangladesh Awami Leage and AL leader Shukur Shaikh (40) were caught from their respective houses, brought to the Union Office where they were beaten, hacked and at last shot to death.
It is stated in the charge sheet that under the direct leadership of the UP Chairman Shahidul Islam Fakir some 19 persons were directly involved in the killing mission of those 2 AL leaders. It is also stated in the charge sheet that as many as 58 persons took part directly or indirectly took part in the killing mission.
Thakur Das Mondol, Investigation Officer of the double murder case told the court, during the investigation police recovered and seized 1 SB short LG, 1 revolver with 6 chambers, 1 short gun with 12 bores, 2 bullet sprints (recovered from the human bodies), various blood stained knives, lethal weapons and axes as evidences.
Some 26 including the ring leader Shahid Fakir out of total 58 charge sheeted persons were arrested so far by the police. 1 Charge sheeted persons was granted interim bail from the higher court and the rest 31 persons have been absconding.
