Fifty-eight cases were filed against unlicensed drivers and unfit vehicles in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area on Wednesday.
The executive magistrates of DSCC and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) also fined Tk 1,14,400 and sent a driver in jail for 20 days.
In drives, DSCC Executive Magistrate Mamun Sardar fined Tk 31,000, filed 18 cases and imprisoned one driver for 20 days in the Kamlapur area in the city.
In the Arambagh area of the city, the court fined Tk 83,400 and filed 40 cases against the unlicensed drivers and unfit vehicles.
DSCC conducted drives from the beginning of March to hunt for illegal drivers, unfit and old vehicles to make the city street free from traffic tailback. The drive will continue till the end of this month, DSCC officials said.
