Rain, cold disrupts life: 5,732 affected by cold-related diseases

Light rain along with cold wave again disrupted normal life in different parts of the country since early Friday. Besides, the early morning rain made everything difficult, leading to intolerable sufferings for people both in Dhaka city and across the country.
Poor people suffered the most due to the sudden rain in this winter.
Cold wave is likely to sweep over the country in the next 48 hours. After rain, cold wave also may grip country for two to three days, said Md Aftab Uddin, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in Dhaka.
Light to even moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at many places in the country in next 24 hours, said the met office in its latest forecast.
On the other hand, moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during midnight till morning. “Night temperature may fall slightly and day temperature may fall by (2-4)°C across the country,” the forecast adds.
The highest rainfall was recorded at 16mm in Chuadanga, Where the lowest temperature was recorded at 11.2° Celsius at Tetulia on Friday, according to Met office.
The inhabitants of Dhaka and people elsewhere in the country work up to cloudy skies and chilly drizzles on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, various cold-related diseases have affected 5,732 people across the country in the last 24 hours, DGHS said on Friday.
It is mentionable that around fifty one deaths were reported across the country between November 1 and January 2 due to cold-related diseases, DGHS sources added.
