570 homeless families to get houses in Natore

A total of 570 landless and homeless families will get new houses as gift from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the third phase of the Ashrayan Project-2 in the district tomorrow.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch the distribution of the houses with land ownership document and keys to the beneficiary families through a videoconferencing from her Ganabhaban residence on July, 21, 2022,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamim Ahmed said this a press briefing here today.
“At the third phase of Ashrayan Project-2, the government has raised the cost and brought changes in design to make the houses more sustainable and climate-resilient”.
 he said, adding that now the landless and homeless people will get better quality tin-shed semi-pucca houses on two decimals of land.
Main thrust of the initiative is to improve the standard of living, ensure basic education, health care and skill development on income generating activities of the beneficiary people.
He also said that so far 2,933 houses have been handed over in the first and second phases of the project.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Ashraful Islam and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Nadem Sarwar, among others, were present at the press briefing.
Each of the semi-pucca house with two bedrooms, one kitchen, one toilet, common space and veranda are being built at a cost of Taka 2.59 lakh.
