57 Bangladeshi fishermen returned home on Tuesday from Indian through Koikhali border area in Shyamnagar upazila of the district after serving 108 days’ jail in an Indian prison.
Subedar Jasimuddin of Koikhali camp of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed them over to BGB through Koikhali check post at about 11:30 am.
The returnees had entered the Indian territory mistakenly while fishing in the Raipur River in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district.
Later, BSF members arrested them for intruding the Indian territory and sent them to a jail where they served 108 days’ jail.
