Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and Chittagong district administration jointly in cooperation with Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) removed 56 illegal billboards from different city areas on Friday night.
The eviction drive began from city’s GEC intersection at around 10 pm in presence of high officials from CCC and district administrations and ended at Muradpur area at 5 am Thursday night.In first day of the eviction drive , 12 bill boards were evicted on Thursday, sources said. The eviction drive led by five executive magistrates under the coordination of CCC magistrate Nazia Sherine and executive magistrate of district administration Tamim Al Yamin.
The drive to remove bill board started again in the city after six months. On second day , 40 bill boards were evicted from Chandgaon, tiger pass, oxygen , Barik building, No.2 gate and Muradpur, sources said.
Earlier, CCC, through advertisements, urged the owners to remove their respective bill boards by May 31 and continued eviction drives throughout July last year.
