Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) jointly arrested at least 56 drug traders on the charges of selling and consuming drugs during the ongoing jointly anti-narcotics drives in the capital from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.
Detective Branch of the DMP in association with the members of local police stations of the city carried
out the drives separately starting from 6:00 am on Saturday.
During the drives, the law enforcers recovered 6,845 pieces of contraband Yaba pills, around 220 grams of heroin, 12 kg of hemp, 210 bottles of phensedyl and one bottle forign wine, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Mohammad Walid Hossain.
A total of 38 cases were filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, DC Walid added.
