Rights organisation Legal Assistance to Helpless Prisoners and Persons (LAHP) has helped 558 helpless under-trial prisoners by getting them released on bail in 10 years
The organisation gives counseling to the accused released on bail for their mental and physical improvement and strength.
Steps have been taken to give jobs to those persons so that they can lead a normal and beautiful life, LAHP Chairman and Supreme Court Advocate Toufika Karim said on Thursday.
Advocate Toufika said it while speaking at a press conference in the LAHP office in Dhaka’s Paribagh area yesterday afternoon.
Rashadul Quasar Bhuiyan, LAHP General Secretary and Hira Talukdar, Media Adviser of the rights organisation also spoke on the occasion.
The organisation is now giving legal assistance by its panel lawyers to the under-trial prisoners in 22 districts including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Narsindi and Gazipur, said Toufika Karim.
She says that her organisation provides the legal assistance to the poor and helpless prisoners who suffer in jail without trial in connection with the cases filed for committing petty crimes.
