Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) of Police in separate drives recovered 11,892 pieces of yaba pills and contraband items in separate drives from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.
During the anti-narcotics drives, the law enforcing agencies also arrested
at least 54 drug traders on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the city, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
The Detective Branch in association with members of local police stations of the city carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00am on Saturday.
Besides the huge number of yaba pills, the law enforcers also recovered around 255.5 grams of heroin, 3kg of hemp, 5 liters of domestic wine and 11 pieces of injections.
A total of 43 cases have been filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, the DC added.
