A total of 53 people were detected positive for Coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 712 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 41 are from Chattogram city and 12 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said. The total number of infected patients now stands at 18,570 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Friday. Of them, 14,678 have, so far, recovered with 70 cures on Friday from the lethal disease with 284 fatalities reported.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said
Besides, 1,402 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 14,678 have recovered and 284 died while the rest 2,206 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district, Dr Fazle Rabbi said.
“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 79.58 percent in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi added.
