The 51st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s youngest son Sheikh Russel was observed in the city in a befitting manner . Different political and socio-cultural organizations chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
Chittagong city Awami League (AL) started the day’s programme with the hoisting of its party flag atop Darul Fazal Market AL office yesterday morning. The city AL leaders and activists observed the day through placing wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Russel, cutting cakes and offered fateha for the departed soul.
Leaders of the Chittagong city Chhatra league and Juba League, placed wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Russel on behalf of their respective organizations.
Chittagong south district AL also arranged a discussion meeting at its Andarkillah office this afternoon with its President Moslem Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
Chittagong City AL also organised a discussion meeting this evening Darul Fazal Market office. Sheikh Russel was born at Dhanmondi Bangabandhu Bhaban on October 18 in 1964.
A class four student of Dhaka University Laboratory School, Russel was brutally killed on August 15 in 1975 along with Bangabandhu and other family members.
