510 crew in Ctg Port test negative for coronavirus

Some 510 sailors of two ships came from China have tested negative for the coronavirus. Chattogram Port Health official Motahar Hossain said crew of two ships waiting in the outer anchorage were screened on Monday while crew of three ships screened on Sunday.
But, none was found to have any symptom of the novel coronavirus, he added.
According to Port sources, container ship ‘MV Kalamata Trader, sailed from China’s Shanghai Port 14 days ago, reached the outer anchorage on Monday.
Assistant Health official Nurul Absar said Kalamata’s staff were in the ship while anchored in the Chinese Port. The Port authorities gave permission to dock the ship after health check-up of the crew, he added.
Earlier, 17 Chinese sailors of an old ship ‘MV Uni Harvest’ got tested soon after the ship reached Bangladesh maritime boundary. Port sources said crew of the ships, reached in the outer anchorage since February 1, have been tested.
