Police arrested a man on charge of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl in the capital’s Kafrul area on Wednesday. He was arrested while the victim’s parents filed a case in this connection with Kafrul Police Station.
The arrestee is Mohir Uddin, 51, a mason by profession and the next-door neighbor of the victim.
Police sent the child to one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests.

Police said the victim and the accused lived in adjacent tin-shed rooms in Ibrahimpur.
When the victim’s parents were busy with work on Tuesday morning, Mohir lured the girl to his room with promises of chocolates and abused her.
The family came to know of the incident Tuesday night and lodged a case afterwards, the police official added.
