A team of Department of Narcotics Control in a drive arrested six persons with 50,000 pieces of Yaba pills from the city’s Kalabagan, New Market, and Elephant Road on Sunday afternoon.
They also seized five mobile phone sets and Tk 28,000 in cash from their possession, said Khorshed Alam, Assistant Director (North) of the DNC.
The arrested persons are: Rabiul Islam, 47, son of Osman Gani, Asma Ahmed alias Dalia, 37, wife of Rabiul Islam, from Dinajpur, Monwara Begum, 60, wife of Shahjahan Mia, from Comilla, Shamim Ahmed, 37, son of Shamsul Ahmed, inhabitant of Jessore, Swapna Begum, 30, wife of Shamim Ahmed, a resident of Dhaka City, and Mahmuda Rani, 46, wife of Aminul Islam, from Shariatpur.
The accused men are being interrogated in this connection, the DNC official said. “We will produce them in the court today (Monday) after filing cases” he said.
