5000 school students read text on Liberation War in Bajitpur

At least 5000 students from five schools in Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj District joined a reading festival through the reading books on the Liberation War simultaneously at Nizm Bhuiyan Eidgah field in Bhagalpur of Bajitpur upazila on Saturday noon organised by Bajitpur Upazila Administration.
The students of class VI to X from 5 school are Aftabuddin High School, Begum Rahima Girls School, Hafez Abdur Rajjak Model Pilot School, Kajjukunessa Girls’ School and Nazirul Islam College School and others 14 schools took part in the festival and read out stories on the assigned topics from their text books.
Some 300 teachers and 450 scouts assisted the event where 1500 benches were set to accommodate the participating boys.
Bajitpur UNO Baskar Debnath Bappy told The New Nation, that we organised the programme first of its kind in the region, to create reading habit among the students.
Marking the book reading programme, a discussion was hedl while Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Uddin Ahamed attended as Chief Guest.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas presided over the festival. It was addressed among others by Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of Local Government Md. Zahirul Islam, Upazila Chairman Sarowar Alam and Poura Mayor Anowar Hossain Ashraf.
Divisional Commissioner Helal Uddin said that, now is the high time to bring back the children to the world of real learning instead of making them run after so-called fabulous results.
Suggesting that such events be spread all over the country for quality education and development of creativity.
After the Book Reading Festival, Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Uddin Ahamed distributing tiffin boxes among the ten thousand primary students in 40 primary school in Bajitpur Upazila of Kishoreganj.
