Staff Reporter :More than 100 readymade garments workers of Keya Spinning Limited in Konabari, Gazipur fell sick after drinking water on Wednesday. The workers were admitted to different clinics for treatment. The Keya Spinning Limited authorities declared the factory closed for the day. Sub-Inspector Mobarak Hossain of Konabari Police Outpost said that many workers of the factory fell sick around 11:30am. Authorities quickly sent them to different local hospitals and clinics.Anwar Hossain, a worker of the factory, claimed that the workers drank water at the canteen.Sample of water from the canteen has been sent to a laboratory in Dhaka, the SI said. Confirming the incident, Dr Babul Ahmed Sharif of Konabari Sharif General Hospital said that around 100 workers of the factory came to his hospital at 11:45am for treatment.Meanwhile, some workers staged demonstration on Dhaka-Tangail highway protesting the incident. Police dispersed them from the spot when they tried to put barricade on the highway around 12:45pm.
