A total of about 500 MT relief materials already reached Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport since September 9. From abroad and more reliefs are expected to reach by sea or air very shortly.
According to sources, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Army and Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport Authority and Civil Aviation and Chittagong District Administration are jointly coordinating the relief activities in Chittagong. According to Squadron Leader Reajul Kabir, Airport Manager of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport, a total of 468.66 Mt relief materials already reached Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport since September 9.
He further said, a total of 16 planes from Malaysia, Morocco, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Iran loaded with relief material landed at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport so far.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Chittagong Md Habibur Rahman said, Chittagong District Administration is coordinating the relief activities at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport. This is a continuous process and relief is coming regularly.
“We have sent the relief material to Cox’s Bazar. Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force are also helping us in this regard.” Meanwhile, Bangladesh Army has started distributing reliefs among the Rohingya people.
To bring discipline in aid operation for Rohingyas those took shelter recently fleeing the atrocities in Myanmar, Bangladesh Army from Saturday has joined the activities, setting up control room at Ukhiya Degree College, sources said.
