500 more seats for MBBS admission

Government has decided to add new 500 seats to the existing number at the MBBS course in the government medical colleges.
A press release from the Health Ministry said on Wednesday that additional 500 students will get a chance to study the MBBS course from academic year 2018-19.
This decision was taken at a meeting held on Wednesday. The meeting

was chaired by Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.
At present, 31 public medical colleges have 3,318 seats. No seats were extended for admission in the last one year.
The notification said, “Health and Family Welfare Ministry has decided to increase 500 seats in government medical colleges for admission into MBBS course.”
“The government has taken this decision to ensure quality medical care for the population at the upazila and union level, considering the increasing population pressure, the upgrade standard of the World Health Organization, and to retain existing facilities of government medical colleges.”
State Minister Zahid Malek, Health Education and Family Welfare Department Secretary GM Saleh Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Medical University Prof. Dr. Ismail Khan, BMA President Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and senior officials of the Ministry of Health were present.
The admission test will be held on 5 October in all the medical colleges across the country. the dental admission test will be held on November 9.
