The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has repatriated 29 Bangladeshi migrants from conflict-torn Yemen.
The 29 Bangladeshi nationals were first evacuated from Sana’a to Khartoum and Addis Ababa through specially chartered flights coordinated by IOM. They arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon through regular commercial flights organised by IOM’s office in Ethiopia.
At the airport, they received further assistance from IOM Dhaka to ensure that they can safely conclude their journey home, said an IMO media release on Wednesday.IOM’s Dhaka office in coordination with the government of Bangladesh has been providing assistance at Dhaka airport to the returnees from Yemen. More than 500 Bangladeshis have been safely brought back till date.
IOM has also provided monetary assistance to the evacuated migrants to facilitate their onwards journey from Dhaka.
