The work on Coal-based Thermal Power Plant (3rd Unit) is going on in full swing in Barapukuria .
Meanwhile, 50 percent of the infrastructure has been completed.
However, the present Barapukuria thermal power plant with two units of 125 MW is being produced every day.
Coal-based electricity production to speed up the government in the same area and was planning to set up a power plant.
According to the plan, the Chinese contracting firm, Messrs Harbin Electric International Company Limited started the work on July 15, 2015. Baropukuria power plant began construction of the third unit. Power generation capacity is 275 MW.
Power Development Board ( PDB) sources said , the unit cost is two thousand 650 cr . The bank has granted a loan of 1 850 m (1 thousand 850 crore taka) ICBC China and the rest of the money is being provided by the Government of Bangladesh. 220 Chinese engineers and workers are working on construction of the plant. It is about 1 thousand Bangladeshi workers and employees they support. 90 acres of land in the center of the huge work has begun.
