Police still could not trace five-year old Sumaiya after reportedly missing from the city’s Kamrangirchar since April 23.
The law enforcers, including detectives, are desperately trying to rescue minor girl, as police high command took it seriously, Police official said.
Sumaiya, daughter of factory worker Zakir Hossain, was reportedly missing from in front of her house in Kamrangirchar’s Borogram around 5:00pm on April 3.
Zakir filed a general diary in connection with his daughter’s disappearance on Tuesday after 22 days of her missing.
Kamrangirchar Police Station Officer-in-Chagre (OC) Shahin Fakir said, “the CCTV camera footage from a nearby house shows the child in the company of a woman wearing a burqa. The family believes the woman in the footage is a former neighbour.
Detective police have been working alongside those in the police station to locate the girl, the OC said.
“We are doing everything we can. Police have conducted several operations in some possible areas. The mobile phone number of the woman has been found switched off,” the Police official said.
Asked as to why it took 22 days to file the kidnapping case? Shahin Fakir said, “We explained the reason for the case to him, but he said ‘What is the point of a case? Just please find out my daughter.”
According to Police Headquarters Public Relations Officer AKM Kamrul Ahsan, the Inspector General of Police himself has asked the force to do everything possible to recover the girl.
According to Zakir, a couple used to live next to their tin-shed house in Borogram. But they left about eight months ago. “Zakir and his wife believed their neighbour might have members of organized kidnapping gang and she abducted Sumaiya,”
