Five women who have won the battle of life in different areas in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur district have been nominated for Jayita recognition. On the occasion of Women’s Day this year, the Upazila administration has nominated them according to the proposal of the Upazila Women’s Organization. The five women are Mumtaz Begum, China Begum, Minti Rani, Basna Rani Das and Tania Akhter Runa.
Mumtaz Begum said, “I did not study due to financial crisis. So I couldn’t mange job in garments. After a few years, I went abroad to earn more money”. Mamtaz, wife of poor Anwar Hossain of Rautkona village in Kapasia upazila started her business with little capital and became successful. Now she has two children teaching at university. The husband and wife changed the wheel of fortune through setting up a poultry industry by their joint income. At present they are a very happy family. In 2020, she was elected an economically successful woman.
China Begum says, “I was in dire financial crisis after my husband died of an incurable disease. “I achieved success by raising chickens and cultivating vegetables without breaking up,” said China, a successful mother and wife of late Akbar Ali of Durgapur Union. The poorly educated China Begum educated her children well. Three children are now currently doing well. Happiness and peace are now prevailing in their family. In 2020, she was elected as a successful mother.
Minti Rani said, ‘I was forced to move to my father’s house in Napere to endure the physical and mental torture of my addicted husband. There is no job in garments to survive. At present I am living in peace with my husband and children. Jayita was elected in 2020 after removing the scourge of violence against women and starting her life in an enterprising manner.
Basna Rani Das, wife of Lalit Chandra Sarkar of Rampur village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district, worked tirelessly to provide old age allowance, widow allowance, VGD card to eligible persons and works with UP members and chairpersons and increase women’s empowerment. She was elected as Jayita in 2020 for her outstanding contribution to the development of the society.
Tania Akhter Runa said, my family had six members. It was not possible for my father to pay for the education of us. I passed SSC from Chinaduli MR High School and HSC from Lal Matia Women’s College, Dhaka in 2009 and Honors and Masters degree in English from the same college and joined Rayed Union High School as an assistant teacher. She was nominated as Jayita for her contribution to education and employment.
