Five women of the district successful in 5 different sectors were accorded with “Joyeeta Reception” at Ashwini Kumar Hall in Barisal on Wednesday afternoon. Barisal district administration organised the function with the association of ministry of women and children affairs and directorate of women affairs on occasion of ending the ‘international fortnight for prevention of torture against women’ and ‘Begum Rokeya Day’. The function was presided over by Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner, and addressed among others by Kazi Hosneara Begum, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rashida Begum, District Women Affairs Officer of Barisal.In the programme Shahnaj Parvin of Bakerganj in economic success category, Priyanka Pal in education and employment, Halima Begum of Barisal Sadar as successful mother, Tahmina Begum of Babuganj in prevention of repression and Gouri Biswas of Wazirpur in social development, awarded as best joyeeta in district level. Each of the awarded joyeeta received crest, scarf and certificate as sign of recognitions for their achievements and nominated for participation in divisional level selection. The speakers of the programme said government has taken different initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that the women can play an important role for country’s socio-economic development.
